Lerose is a small community in Owsley County, Kentucky located about 6 miles east of Booneville, KY (County Seat), along Kentucky Route 30. Charlie Turner lived on Route 708 between the Lerose Post Office and the Lee County Line, on the Wilson Fork Of Meadow Creek. Charlie and Margie Turner(pictured at left with infant Ernest) had 9 children, Ernest (Lerose, KY), Venison (West Bridgewater, MA), Walter (Booneville, KY), Bill (Winchester, KY), Chester (Lerose, KY), Penny (Lexington, KY), Doris (Lexington,KY), Bradley (Booneville,KY), and Clayton (Lerose,KY). He had worked as a coal miner at the Blue Diamond Coal Company at Blue Diamond, KY. This small community was located at First Creek along Kentucky Highway 15 near Hazard, KY. He later moved to Owsley County and lived in the Lerose community until his death. Both him and his wife are buried in the Shepherd Cemetery at Booneville, KY. The annual family reunion is normally the second Saturday of May around noon. The location is the Charlie Turner home place. We frequently have guests who are curious about family tree information and who are distant relatives. Anyone who would like to contact the author of this web page may do so at : turner@prtcnet.org.
