Lerose is a small community in Owsley County, Kentucky
located about 6 miles east of Booneville, KY (County Seat), along Kentucky
Route 30. Charlie Turner lived on Route 708 between the Lerose Post Office
and the Lee County Line, on the Wilson Fork Of Meadow Creek. Charlie and
Margie Turner(pictured at left with infant Ernest) had 9 children, Ernest
(Lerose, KY), Venison (West Bridgewater, MA), Walter (Booneville, KY), Bill
(Winchester, KY), Chester (Lerose, KY), Penny (Lexington, KY), Doris
(Lexington,KY), Bradley (Booneville,KY), and Clayton (Lerose,KY). He had
worked as a coal miner at the Blue Diamond Coal Company at Blue Diamond,
KY. This small community was located at First Creek along Kentucky Highway
15 near Hazard, KY. He later moved to Owsley County and lived in the Lerose
community until his death. Both him and his wife are buried in the Shepherd
Cemetery at Booneville, KY. The annual family reunion is normally the
second Saturday of May around noon. The location is the Charlie Turner home
place. We frequently have guests who are curious about family tree
information and who are distant relatives. Anyone who would like to contact

From Booneville, KY proceed east on
Kentucky Route 30, approximately 4 miles to Lerose. Turn left (North) on
Route 708. Stay on Route 708 for approximately 2 miles to the homeplace.
The house is on the right side and has a wooden walk bridge over the creek.
Annual
Reunion
The
descendents of Charley Turner have an annual family reunion on the second
saturday in May of each year at the homeplace at Lerose, Kentucky. Our
average attendance for this reunion is approximately 60. We invite everyone
to attend, for a day of good food, fellowship and horseshoes. In the past,
persons who were interested in the Turner geneaology and who were distant
relatives have shown up. YA'LL COME!
