Lerose is a small community in Owsley County, Kentucky located about 6 miles east of Booneville, KY (County Seat), along Kentucky Route 30. Charlie Turner lived on Route 708 between the Lerose Post Office and the Lee County Line, on the Wilson Fork Of Meadow Creek. Charlie and Margie Turner(pictured above with infant Ernest) had 9 children, Ernest (Lerose, KY), Venison (West Bridgewater, MA), Walter (Booneville, KY), Bill (Winchester, KY), Chester (Lerose, KY), Penny (Benton, KY), Doris (Lexington,KY), Bradley (Booneville,KY), and Clayton (Lerose,KY). He had worked as a coal miner at the Blue Diamond Coal Company at Blue Diamond, KY. This small community was located at First Creek along Kentucky Highway 15 near Hazard, KY. He later moved to Owsley County and lived in the Lerose community until his death. Both him and his wife are buried in the Shepherd Cemetery at Booneville, KY. The annual family reunion is normally the second Saturday of May around noon. For 2018 it is on April 28.  The location is the Charlie Turner home place. We frequently have guests who are curious about family tree information and who are distant relatives. Anyone who would like to contact the author of this web page may do so at turner@prtcnet.org.

For 2018 the reunion is April 28. The descendents of Charley Turner have an annual family reunion on the second saturday in May of each year at the homeplace at Lerose, Kentucky. Our average attendance for this reunion is approximately 60. We start at 12:00 AM with lunch, followed by a devotional fellowship and an auction. After that, we usually have games for the kids and the old folks catch up on family news. We invite everyone to attend, for a day of good food, fellowship and horseshoes. In the past, persons who were interested in the Turner geneaology and who were distant relatives have shown up. YA'LL COME!
