Lerose
is a small community in Owsley County, Kentucky located about 6 miles east of
Booneville, KY (County Seat), along Kentucky Route 30. Charlie Turner lived on
Route 708 between the Lerose Post Office and the Lee County Line, on the Wilson
Fork Of Meadow Creek. Charlie and Margie Turner had 9 children, Ernest (Lerose, KY), Venison (West Bridgewater, MA),
Walter (Booneville, KY), Bill (Winchester, KY), Chester (Deceased), Penny
(Benton, KY), Doris (Lexington,KY), Bradley (Booneville,KY), and Clayton
(Lerose,KY). He had worked as a coal miner at the Blue Diamond Coal Company at
Blue Diamond, KY. This small community was located at First Creek along
Kentucky Highway 15 near Hazard, KY. He later moved to Owsley County and lived
in the Lerose community until his death. Both him and his wife are buried in
the Shepherd Cemetery at Booneville, KY. The annual family reunion is normally
the second Saturday of May around noon. For 2022 it is on May 14th. . The location is the Charlie Turner home
place. We frequently have guests who are curious about family tree information

to the Homeplace
From Booneville, KY proceed east on Kentucky Route 30, approximately 4 miles to
Lerose. Turn left (North) on Route 708. Stay on Route 708 for approximately 2
miles to the homeplace. The house is on the right side and has a maroon wooden
walk bridge over the creek.
For
2022 the reunion will be May 14. The descendents of Charley Turner have an annual
family reunion on the second saturday in May of each year at the homeplace at
Lerose, Kentucky. Our average attendance for this reunion is approximately 60. We start at 12:00 AM with lunch, followed by a devotional fellowship and an auction. After that, we usually have games for the kids and the old folks catch up on family news.
We invite everyone to attend, for a day of good food, fellowship and
horseshoes. In the past, persons who were interested in the Turner geneaology
and who were distant relatives have shown up. YA'LL COME!
