The Promise is about 5 feet
tall and about 7 feet in total length, It is carved out of white
pine.
I did most of
the carving in the
front yard of the house where I used to live. A lot of People stopped
to watch me carve and
one guy made the comment that "It says in the Bible that you should not make any graven image."
I just looked at him for about a minute an then he said "Well I guess that was in the old testament."
Most people that stopped by said that they really liked it and a few tried to get me to go to church. I really enjoyed carving
"The Promise". I did the carving in the early nineties so I can say that "Before the Passion there was the Promise".
This Carving is in the permanent collection of the Kentucky Folk Art Museum.
